O’Brien
County Tourism will host the final workshop in a series of workshops funded by
a grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) FY2017 Iowa Tourism
Grant cycle. This workshop will be facilitated by the Iowa Museum Association
and is scheduled for April 24th
from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
at the Vander Haag Truck Museum in Sanborn
with a lunch provided.
Organizations
and individuals who will find these workshops especially helpful will be museum
staff and board members, librarians and their board members, historical
societies, and custodians of any historical collection.
This workshop is titled “Stewardship
of Collections” and will be led by Jodi Evans, Registrar of the State
Historical Society of Iowa. This workshop will help participants to
understand the correlation between mission and collection, learn about core
documents and tools to assist in documenting, be able to plan for collection
management and the role of stewardship in collection management, and finally,
develop goals and action steps to address identified gaps in collection
activities. The afternoon session will be a review of the information shared
and institutional homework assigned throughout this series of workshops,
including a question and answer session.
Kiana
Johnson, Director of O’Brien County Economic Development Corporation, stated this
workshop series is being offered free of
charge and registration for these workshops is required. The deadline to register is noon on April 20th.
